What is Civil Engineering?



 
                      Civil Engineering may be define as a  professional  engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including works like dams, canal, road, bridges, and buildings.
Civil engineering being the second-oldest engineering discipline after military engineering, was defined to distinguish non-military engineering from military engineering.

                      Military engineering may be define as an art and practice of designing and building military equipment, transportation, communications and its maintenance

Irrigation is the Science of providing water to the lands in accordance with the requirements of the crops grown therein. It has been found to increase the productivity of rain-fed lands by as much as five times in a tropical country.
However, most of present utilisation of water is being used for irrigation alone.
